Global Ocean Trust
Torsten Thiele is an expert in ocean and coastal governance and finance, working on blue finance concepts and projects. Drawing on over 20 years of professional experience in international project and infra-structure finance at both commercial banks and multilateral finance institutions. Torsten is the founder of Global Ocean Trust, a non-profit organization working to bring new technologies, partnerships, and new sources of finance to protect the oceans. He is also a Senior Advisor to the IUCN Blue Natural Capital Financing Facility and an active member of several advisory boards and other expert bodies, including co-heading the coastal resilience working group of the Coalition for Private Investment in Conservation (CPIC) and acting as finance expert for the Inter-national Partnership on Blue Carbon.

Gabriela Castillo Cartín, LLM
University of Costa Rica
Gabriela is an international lawyer with a background in climate policy, human mobility, and human rights. She holds an LLM in International Law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies and a Licentiate of laws majored in Human Rights from the University of Costa Rica. Deeply passionate about climate and social justice, Gabriela has over 5 years’ experience working in international organizations and NGOs conducting policy, advocacy, and legal work. Currently, she supports Silvestrum’s work on climate policy and land-use/climate interventions with a focus on tenure, community governance, and regulatory context. Gabriela is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
