Blue Forest Project Madagascar: Gaps Assessment
Blue Ventures’ Ambaro-Ambanja Bay REDD project aims at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from mangrove deforestation, while contributing to alleviating coastal poverty and conserving mangrove biodiversity. Blue Ventures commissioned Silvestrum Climate Associates to review the project on site to identify key elements and gaps on the way towards the completion of a Project Description (PD) for validation under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). The team visited BV’s proposed project site in the Ambaro‐Ambanja Bays, NW Madagascar in May-June 2016, to advise on the viability of the project. In particular, providing insight as to whether it is a suitable site for the application of the VCS blue carbon methodology in development by the Silvestrum team.
